What I learned this weekend

Aside from getting to spend some much needed time with my mom, sisters, and former YL leader, I spent some much needed time with the Lord. He has been trying to get my attention, and all the signs came together with Jen's words about finding a story. I have been stuck, and he is pushing me out of my self-made boundaries. I've been comfortable, but restless, and it's time for me to write a better story. During the quiet time on Saturday morning, he impressed upon me the words from Hebrews 12:12-13- "Therefore, lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed." He is calling me to step my game up, and not fall back into old patterns. I can't wait to see what he has in store for me as I go through this year! Not to mention the potential life adjustments that might come from reading 7. It's all getting very... interesting

Y'all put together a great weekend and it is a blessing to me!!!! Thanks so much!!!

Pictures from the weekend!

Thank you for all the efforts that you  went to in order to provide such a wonderful weekend.  I was at the first Women's Weekend 10 years ago with my older daughter, who was a freshman at Furman University.  I have not been able to attend since that time but was able to enjoy this year's weekend with my younger daughter, Becky, who is on YL staff in Winston-Salem, NC.  Such a special time together!  Here are a few of my pictures!

What people are saying about the weekend

I had a wonderful time and am planning to come back next year. I missed Sunday Club but my friends filled me in and brought me back a book. Thanks for following God's lead and making such a refreshing time in The Lord possible. My favorite was the quiet time with God. Also loved, loved, loved Jenn's messages .... awesome, inspiring and relevant!

Why I love WGWW? Let me count the ways…

Every year I look forward to WGWW as I am sure many other women do as well.  Without fail this weekend serves as a refreshment and a great way to start the new year (for people like myself that run on an academic year calendar).  Without fail I leave Weaverville, NC each year a few pounds heavier from the great food, with sore abs (term “abs” used very loosely) from some great laughs, and with a refreshed spirit from a weekend of getting to hear from great speakers and enjoy some personal time with the Lord to think and process.

I am especially excited to be a part of WGWW this year as it is the 10th anniversary!  Let the count down to Sept 6th begin!

A long, long time ago

I showed up at Windy Gap for summer camp.  I showed up thinking I was a good enough kid and certainly better than some other people I knew.  I showed up having gone to church so surely I was a Christian.

BUT GOD had a lot in store for me that week.  Yes, I absolutely had a blast racing go carts and doing the ropes course.  There was also racing across the pool on a blow up whale and playing cards and laughing until my cheeks ached.

But I heard the gospel of Jesus Christ in a way I'd never received it before...for the first time in my life I knew I was a sinner in need of a savior.  And Jesus has been with me ever since.

Windy Gap holds a special place in my heart and is one of my favorite places on earth.  I am privalaged that this will be my 9th women's weekend!  I love the place and the people.  I love laughing and eating too much and hearing more about Jesus and reconnecting with my people.  I love that the Lord tells us over and over again to remember...I am grateful that I get to return and remember what Jesus did for me that summer I was 16.  I get to praise Him for what Jesus is doing for me now.  I get to hope for what Jesus will do in the years to come.

Couldn't ask for a better weekend!

10 years?! Whoa!

Each year the Lord brings us back together at Windy Gap with a few hundred of our closest and most fun friends.  Each year the Lord brings worship leaders that help us enter His presence.  Each year the Lord brings program that makes us laugh until we find ourselves wondering if we're too young for Depends?!  (And the answer to that is YES.)  Each year the Lord sends us speakers that share more of who Jesus is and who we are because of Him.  Each year we leave filled up ready for what's to come.

10 years of a dream being fulfilled.
10 years of Cheerwine slushies from the Sippy.
10 years of catching up with old friends.
10 years of meeting new ones.
10 years of eating too much.
10 years of laughing too hard.
10 years of exploring the beautiful Windy Gap.
10 years of overloading on coffee.
10 years of seeing more of the Lord.
10 years of being grateful for this time set apart.

This is our 10th year!  And the best is yet to come!

GET READY!
